How To Clean Drain?

Drains are very important in the plumbing system of every home. This is where we eject dirty water out of our homes. But do we really know the proper way to clean our drains? To help you out, we will give you some tips on how to properly clean your drains so that they will always function properly.
Clean your drains with a mixture of white vinegar, baking soda and warm water. Eliminate bad odours that are usually caused by grease, organic residue and bacteria build-up in the drains. These build-ups should be removed because they can also cause clogging when they have accumulated in the drain pipes. To prevent this, pour ½ cup of baking soda down the drain. Then, also pour ½ cup of white vinegar and let the mixture stay there for 15 minutes. While waiting, boil some water in a pot and pour it down the drain once the 15 minutes is up. If you have hot water on your tap, let the hot water run from it for about 30 seconds to flush out dirt from the drain. The baking soda and vinegar solution can also be used to remove stains and other mineral deposits off.

Destroy the foul smells with baking soda and hot water. Pour a ½ cup of baking soda into the drain and then, also pour 1.9 litres of hot water. The baking soda is expected to absorb the bad odours that are coming from the drain.
Use biological cleaners to clean dirty drains. To help keep drains smelling good, eliminate harmful bacteria and moulds and prevent clogging. These enzymatic drain cleaners are safer for your septic system too than chemical cleaners. Makes sure to follow the instructions on the packaging when you use them.

Clean a stinky disposal with salt, ice and lemon peels. If your garbage disposal has a foul smell even if it is running properly, this is a sign that there is a build-up of organic residue and bacteria in your grinders. To remove, fill the disposal with some ice cubes, a handful of coarse salt and some lemon peels. Grind the mixture for a few seconds on the disposal and remove the build-up with a coarse kitchen tool that will not damage the steel grinders.

Remove clogs if there are any. Use plungers, barb plastic drain cleaning tools to remove clogs, gas or water-powered cleaner to blow out clogs, heating pads to melt grease clogs, and clear deeps clogs with a reliable auger or drain snake. If the clogs are not very bad, you can also fill the sink with hot water, leave it for two hours and let it clear the clog.

Prevent the development of clogs, foul smells and build-up. Make use of drain screens to prevent build-up that can clog drains. Keep fat and grease away from drains as much as possible. Maintain your drains by cleaning them regularly including their drain stoppers.
